Picasso Life Opening
Český Krumlov – On April 8, 2025, the opening ceremony of the Picasso Life exhibition took place in the historic premises of the Monasteries in Český Krumlov.
The opening ceremony included a guided tour of the exhibition by the curator Vilém Kabzan and art historian and gallerist Ciprian Činátl. The exhibition will feature prints, lithographs, drawings, documentary materials and films revealing Picasso’s passion for animals, things, nature, women and mythology. The exhibition also includes a collection of ceramics and photographs from the master’s personal life, as well as a collection of posters from galleries and exhibitions that map how Picasso’s works were presented around the world.
The opening ceremony was attended by Cardinal Dominik Duka, the mayor of Krumlov, Alexander Nogrády, and the director of the Monasteries Gallery, Martin Malý. The opening of the exhibition was chosen for April 8, the day of his death in 1973 in France. “We wanted to pay tribute to Picasso by opening this exhibition on the day of his death,” said the exhibition organizers during a welcoming speech, during which Mr. Vladimír Cnota spoke for the collection The World of Picasso and the exhibition curator Vilém Kabzan.
The exhibition from private collections represented by the association The World of Picasso will be open from Wednesday, April 9 and will last for a year. The uniqueness of the exhibition will be the works gradually added or presented for a limited time, which will bring visitors a unique experience and a look back at one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
